More Info From the Field

This is a continuation of the email sent by Bob:

MANY have called to offer accommodations in various places. While weREALLY appreciate the thoughtfulness and love expressed, this iscurrently not of much value as people are just trying to get home or trying to stay home to work on their houses. There may be more of a need later.

There are thousands of troops in Slidell now to keep order and directsearch and rescue efforts. There are thousands of power companyemployees from all over the country working around the clock to get powerback on. Our first family got power yesterday ... I may have gotten ittoday ... still not sure. The gas line to my neighborhood is broken. Mosquito abatement personnel are working HUGE hours to try to spray tokeep mosquito borne diseases at bay ... looters are shot withouthesitation ... and neighbors are helping neighbors.

The Red Cross is virtually invisible ... FEMA is doing an excellent job... Churches are really visible trying to help ... Search and Rescuepersonnel are continuing to work their way into every corner of theparish to find dead or missing persons ... many are being found as thewaters subside in the flooded parishes dead in their cars or trapped in their attics where they tried to escape and didn't make it ... thousands are still undressed or missing.

If you need to find loved ones ... Listen to WWL AM870 Clear ChannelRadio - you can hear it nearly all over the country at night - the voiceof New Orleans - Now simulcasting with several other stations as "UnitedBroadcasting" out of Baton Rouge, LA. when their stations were floodedand they evacuated Call (225) 408-0201 to report missing loved ones. Also watch www.wwltv.com the same station's tv station ... or www.nola.com the site for the Times Picayune ... New Orleans news paper.

Please pray for the Believers here ... and the Believers from Lake ParkChapel in Belle Chasse and the Believers from Sala Evangelica ... whohave not yet been able to get in to work on their homes. Long after weare up and functional they will just be beginning. Also, keep in mindthat the needs of each chapel are different and that the needs vary fromday to day.
