Day 26 Update

Dear Praying Friends,

Just a quick note from the "sunny south" ... NOT!!!

Pretty much everyone made all the plans they were going to make by Last night (Thursday night) ... the PA crew headed for home ... the three crews in here headed for the camp a little early ... and the locals glued themselves to the "United Radio Broadcasters of New Orleans" ...the temporary shared radio facilities operating out of Baton Rouge since all the transmitters in New Orleans were shut down. Today dawned gloomy, gusty and rainy ... so the workers began a little late and we quit a little early so the workers could get back up to camp before the winds and rain increased too much tonight! Tonight Rita will come ashore somewhere around the TX / LA border ... around 2:00 A.M. ... it will be along night for many! We're praying that the Lord will do a miracle and see fit to reduce the storm to a MUCH lower level. He has already reduced it from 185 mph to 120 mph ... SO PRAY ON!!!

The storm surge here in Southeast Louisiana has already breached 3 levees in New Orleans AGAIN ... flooding the 9th Ward in two places. Also a levee in Southwest Louisiana has already been breached causing flooding in that parish. Slidell has been under a mandatory evacuation from LA Highways 190 and 22 South since 8:00 A.M. this morning. The concern here in Slidell is flooding due to the debris choked drainage ditches and canals which may cause re-flooding of the lower areas of town. My house is 1 block from Highway 190 (Fremeaux Ave.). Tomorrow we'll see Rita heading inland and so we'll begin work a little later than usual (around 10 A.M. or so) with more of the same cleanup at the chapel. We're making GREAT progress in this cleanup of the chapel grounds and facility. The Health Inspector came by yesterday and sampled the water (we have a well) and today they notified us that they had found it to be ok for consumption. She will be back to inspect the facility damage to make sure we are safe to open the Day Care and School on October 3.

How quickly the weeks seem to go by. You barely have time to start a job and the day is gone ... and then the week is gone as well! The good side of that is that you barely finish with the Prayer Meeting and it's time for Worship!!! And so ... only one more day till we can gather together WITH YOU around our wonderful Savior! How encouraging it is to join with you! We look forward to "seeing" you! The body of Christ will once again demonstrate to the angelic host the variegated wisdom of our wonderful God! And they will once again look on with wonder as we enjoy "snuggling up" to our Heavenly Father and trying with stammering lips to tell him of our love for His WONDER-full Son!

Thank you for your continued prayer!
Our love in Christ,
Bob & JoAnne Brown
Slidell, LA.
